¡Hola! Soy Georgiana, tu profesora de inglés. En este episodio hablaremos de lo que ocurre cuando terminan las vacaciones y, además, aprenderás varias expresiones con la palabra blue.
Después practicaremos la expresión oral con una mini-historia.
Estamos en septiembre y las vacaciones de verano han terminado. Después de descansar, tomar el sol y desconectar de la rutina, llega el momento de volver a la normalidad.
Tal vez te sientas con energía porque has recharged your batteries, o quizá estés feeling blue.
En inglés, blue no es solo un color. También aparece en expresiones relacionadas con tristeza, nostalgia o desánimo.
Feeling blue significa sentirse triste. Ejemplo: "It seems that you are feeling blue. Is there something wrong?"
Get the blues también expresa tristeza o melancolía. Ejemplo: "Ann gets the blues every Christmas holiday."
In esta época también se habla de post-holiday blues: el bajón que algunas personas sienten después de regresar de un viaje o de unas vacaciones largas.
Entre los síntomas pueden aparecer cansancio, nostalgia, falta de apetito o dificultad para volver a la rutina. Si además has viajado por varias zonas horarias, puede sumarse el jet lag.
¿Qué puedes hacer para que la vuelta sea más fácil?
1. Regresa con algo de margen. Si puedes, llega al menos un día antes de volver al trabajo para descansar en casa.
2. Unpack cuanto antes. Vacía la maleta y haz la colada. Mantener la maleta cerrada durante días puede prolongar mentalmente la sensación de no haber vuelto todavía.
3. Planifica algo que te ilusione. Incluso pensar en un próximo viaje puede ayudarte a move on y retomar la rutina con mejor ánimo.
4. Recupera algún detalle agradable de las vacaciones. Por ejemplo, prepara una comida que te recuerde al viaje.
5. Date un poco de tiempo. No necesitas volver inmediatamente a un ritmo frenético. Descansa y permite que tu cuerpo se adapte.
