¡Hola! Soy Georgiana, tu profesora de inglés. Mi misión es ayudarte a hablar inglés con fluidez.
Hoy quiero compartir algunas historias que ocurrieron durante entrevistas de trabajo. Creo que nos vamos a divertir.
Más adelante practicarás la gramática con una historia desde distintos puntos de vista.
Imagina que estás buscando trabajo.
Tienes una carrera, un máster o una trayectoria profesional impresionante, y eres una persona muy preparada.
Un día...
Recibes una llamada. Es una empresa que quiere entrevistarte.
¡Qué ilusión! El día de la entrevista te preparas: te cortas el pelo, te vistes adecuadamente, estás un poco nervioso pero concentrado y, de repente, la entrevista empieza en inglés.
No te lo esperabas. Toda tu preparación, tus estudios, tus títulos y tu experiencia parecen dejar de ser relevantes.
Esta es la realidad: si no sabes desenvolverte en una entrevista de trabajo en inglés, puedes perder una gran oportunidad profesional.
Pero hay una buena noticia.
Si ya tienes una base de inglés, prepararte para una entrevista no tiene por qué ser difícil ni llevarte demasiado tiempo.
Al final de la lección te explicaré cómo puedes prepararte para una entrevista de trabajo en unas dos semanas o incluso menos.
Muy bien, vamos a escuchar algunas historias que ocurrieron en entrevistas de trabajo.
1) Empecemos por la primera:
"In the interview, they asked me, "where do you see yourself in five years", and I answered, 'not here.' They never called me back."
En este caso tenía razón. Cinco años después no trabajaría allí porque nunca volvieron a llamarlo.
2) La siguiente:
"After undergoing three interviews for the position, I was introduced to my new boss, who happened to be the father of my ex. Despite being very worried, we ended up becoming good friends even more so than when I was dating his daughter."
¡Qué pequeño es el mundo! La entrevista podría haber terminado muy mal, pero podemos decir que este chico tuvo bastante suerte.
3) Continuemos con otra historia muy curiosa.
"The interviewer started looking at me with a puzzled face, and the first thing he asked me was if I could prove all the experience described in my CV. I told him that I had no experience at all since I had just finished my studies. He showed me the CV, and to my amazement, it was my dad's!"
¡Qué coincidencia! Por algún motivo, el entrevistador tenía el currículum de su padre. Quizá el padre había enviado su CV a la misma empresa.
4) Otra historia:
"I went to the interview by car and had a little accident with the car and yelled at the other driver. That driver turned out to be my interviewer. Therefore, I didn't get the job."
Tener un accidente justo cuando vas a una entrevista ya es mala suerte. Y todavía peor si acabas gritándole a la persona que va a entrevistarte.
La próxima vez que vayas a una entrevista, quizá sea mejor ir en tren o en autobús... y ser amable con todo el mundo.
5) Otra historia. Esta es bastante embarazosa:
"After an hour successfully answering the interviewer's tough questions, I got up to say goodbye without realizing that I had been cross-legged the whole time. So I fell to the floor."
¡Pobre hombre! Estaba convencido de que había hecho una entrevista excelente, pero al levantarse acabó cayéndose delante del entrevistador.
¡Qué mala suerte!
6) Esta última historia es divertidísima:
"I'm very shy, and I was very nervous during an interview. So I started talking in a low voice, and the interviewer started doing the same thing. We both ended up whispering almost as if we were in a library."
Cuando hablamos en voz muy baja podemos influir en el tono de la otra persona. Suele ser mejor hablar con un tono neutro. La situación, desde luego, es bastante divertida.

I am interviewing an extremely nervous guy. After each question, he is more and more nervous and never gives a right answer. The interview is a real disaster. In the end, the guy says goodbye with an embarrassed look on his face and quickly leaves, but in his haste, he gets the wrong door and enters the printer's room. I wait a few seconds, but he doesn't come out. My colleague goes to see what is happening and sees that the poor man is so ashamed that he is trying to get out through the small window instead of coming back in.

Yesterday I interviewed an extremely nervous guy. With each question, he was more and more nervous and never gave the right answer. The interview was a real disaster. In the end, the guy said goodbye with an embarrassed look on his face and quickly left, but in his haste, he walked through the wrong door and into the printer's room. I waited a few seconds but he didn't come out. My colleague went to see what was going on. He saw that the poor guy was so embarrassed that he was trying to get out through the small window instead of coming back in.
All right, it’s the end of this short point of view story. Poor guy. He wanted to leave quickly, but he got the wrong door.
He tried to run out the window. I don't know if I would do the same thing.
