Hola a todos. Soy Georgiana, tu profesora de inglés. Mi misión es ayudarte a hablar inglés con fluidez.
Hoy seguimos aprendiendo inglés de una manera divertida con una segunda tanda de riddles, adivinanzas en inglés.
Una adivinanza funciona como un pequeño rompecabezas: describe algo y, a menudo, juega con palabras que tienen un doble significado.
Intenta adivinar la respuesta antes de leerla. Si escuchas el episodio, puedes pausar el audio para darte más tiempo.
1. What has one eye but can’t see?
Answer: A needle.
Una aguja tiene un eye, el ojo de la aguja, pero naturalmente no puede ver.
2. What has legs but doesn’t walk?
Answer: A table.
Una mesa tiene legs, patas, pero no camina.
3. What can you catch but not throw?
Answer: A cold.
En inglés usamos la expresión catch a cold, que significa resfriarse. Aquí catch no significa que persigamos un resfriado para atraparlo.
4. What kind of band never plays music?
Answer: A rubber band.
Un rubber band es una goma elástica. La palabra band también puede significar grupo musical, y ahí está el juego de palabras.
5. What has many teeth but can’t bite?
Answer: A comb.
Un peine, comb, tiene teeth, dientes, pero no puede morder.
6. What has words but never speaks?
Answer: A book.
Un libro contiene palabras, aunque no pueda hablar.
7. What has a thumb and four fingers but is not a hand?
Answer: A glove.
Un guante tiene espacio para el pulgar y cuatro dedos, pero no es una mano.
8. What building has the most stories?
Answer: The library.
Aquí hay otro doble significado: stories puede significar historias y también plantas o pisos de un edificio.
9. What kind of coat is best put on wet?
Answer: A coat of paint.
La expresión a coat of paint significa una capa de pintura.
10. It belongs to you, but other people use it more than you do. What is it?
Answer: Your name.
Tu nombre te pertenece, pero normalmente son los demás quienes lo pronuncian más veces.

The father of two sons died, leaving a large inheritance. In the will, the father put this condition: The two sons had to race their horses. The slower horse would get the whole inheritance. So the sons looked for a place to organize this unusual competition. The race began, but each son deliberately slowed down his horse. They barely made any progress, and so it was impossible to finish the race. Not knowing what to do, they visited a wise man to ask him how they could solve this problem. After hearing the answer, they started racing again. This time, as fast as they could.
